July 17: Conference visits Serowe Hospital

Just a quick up date since we leave tomorrow for a two day safari and will not have Internet assess. Yesterday was our first day with the Youth Conference, with over two hundred youth and young adults in attendance from all over Botswana and parts of South Africa. We were all so moved and inspired by the music and enthusiasm of everyone. We will post we video once we get to Gaborone. In the afternoon we all went to a new hospital in Serowe to help decorate the children's ward with Disney decals we brought from the US. Everyone seemed to really enjoy this.

Today we shared in a three hour plus Eucharist. Nils, Ben and Philippe looked so natural sitting up front with Father Amanze. Their dancing was especially entertaining.
This afternoon I had to honor to go grocery shopping with Nils and Ben as we learned we will be cooking our own meals during the safari. We had all the employees at the store helping us check out as they were trying to close for President's Day. We then had to track down our new bus as the one we had had gone to refuel and broke down.

We are all doing well, slowly adjusting to the food and the heat for the Brits anyway. The days have been warm but the temperature drops quickly once the sun goes down.

During the International Youth Conference in Serowe, all 200 or so participants visited the Serowe Hospital, bringing gifts including Disney wall decorations for the children's ward.
